Pandit Vikash Maharaj (Sarod Player/Music Composer/Human Rights Activist), born in 1957 as 14th generations of musician in prestigious & oldest musician family in Varanasi, India. 38 years of his successful International music career gave him opportunities to perform and record with many internationally recognized musicians like John Handy, David Friesen, Paul Horn, Patrick Bebelaar, Prof. Ban Konrad, Tom Bailey, Wise Guys (A cappella Band) as names few and which can be traced as over150 different Cd/LP/DVD world wide. Prof. Joachim-Ernst Berendt’s highly appreciated classic book & documentary“The World Is Sound: Nada Brahma: Music and the Landscape of Consciousness” mentioned his name as 20th centuries most prominent spiritual musician on the earth. Pandit Vikash Maharaj is first Indian Sarod player who has been invited to perform at the Parliament of New Zealand in 2008. In 1995, Indo-German Society Remscheid, Germany has honored him as title of “Professor” for creating a cultural bridge between Indian Classical and Western classical music. In 2014, U.P. State Government of India has honored him with highest Civilian Award “YASH BHARATI” for his extraordinary contributions in Indian classical Music. Pandit Vikash Maharaj has been working as Visiting Professor in several most popular international universities as Berkeley Music College, San Diego City College, Bach Music Academy, Cologne Music and Dance University, Mozart Academy of Ancient Music, Vienna Philharmonic (Department of World Music), University of Auckland as names few. Pandit Vikash Maharaj has created a large numbers of followers and students worldwide. He also has been associated with Nobel Peace Prize Awardee Mr. Kailash Satyarthi and his organization B.B.A. and worked as Chairman of Cultural forum for many years and fought for equal rights for peace and education to every child.
